Carla Johanns is the President of Simpson Print and started off her presentation by saying “green is not just about consumer awareness and sexy sustainable marketing, it’s about driving awareness and taking the smallest step in all levels of the print flow”. Simpson Print is a soon to be 60 year old company and specialize in print marketing and manufacturing. Johanns described Simpson as being “the most diverse and integrated, all under one roof facilities on both sides of the border”. They deliver high resolution screen print and extensive wide and small format digital and UV offset. Simpson is known for their substrate knowledge and their speciality print coatings for a wide range of applications.
Simpson believes that the next major trend in the industry is to switch to a more “green landscape”. With this knowledge, companies will be able to educate their clients and continue being leaders in the industry. Simpson has been “early adopters” in green workflows by embracing shifts in their process and through their workers to shape and change the way they print and do business daily.
swissQprint
Kevin Graham is the Territory Manager for swissQprint in Canada. swissQprint is a manufacturer of high-end large format digital printing systems with a focus on specific key values. These values consist of high precision, outstanding reliability, exemplary service and environmental compatibility (GREENTECH).
GREENTECH is their internal initiative for lowering the company’s carbon footprint. All of the printers are 100% developed and produced at their location in Switzerland. Their shipping distances are short as 80% of their suppliers that provide 94% of all machine parts, are also located in Switzerland. All of the company’s current flatbed and roll to roll printers are highly energy efficient, as evidenced by their ISO 20690:2018 certification. swissQprint is the first manufacturer of large format printers to put their machines through this test. The company also uses VOC-free inks and are Greenguard Gold certified.
