Hilary Ashworth discusses RGD
Hilary Ashworth has been Executive Director of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) since 2009. In her role, she oversees all RGD operations, including strategy, finances, staffing, membership, public relations, advocacy, communications, sponsorship, programs and events. Hilary joined the RGD in 1999 as its Communications Coordinator, organizing its inaugural DesignThinkers Conference, editing the first edition of The Business of Graphic Design: A Professional’s Handbook (now in its 4th edition) and coordinating Canada’s first national salary survey for graphic designers (with the 10th edition set to launch in March).
Starting with the RGD as its first full-time employee, Hilary has been instrumental in its growth to a team of 10 staff, an active volunteer roster of over 200, and membership over 4,400. She has served on the Board of the Design Industry Advisory Committee, a cross-disciplinary design think tank and research group, and taught at Centennial College.
